What Are The Scaling Hazards on Hot Water Boiler

Scaling might be produced inside a hot water boiler after its long time running, and if we do not deal it timely, there will be some hazards on it.

What is boiler scale?

Boiler scale is caused by impurities being precipitated out of the boiler directly on heat transfer surfaces or by suspended matter in water setting out on the metal and becoming hard and adherent. And it’s the evaporation that causes impurities to concentrate. Scaling will interferes with heat transfers and cause hot spots leading to local overheating. The less heat they conduct, the more dangerous they are.

Hazards caused by boiler scale

1. Affect boiler efficiency: boiler scaling will seriously affect heat transfer, reduce thermal efficiency and steam output, increases fuel consumption, do not meet the requirements of national energy-saving.

2. Caused accident: after heating surface water scale inhibitors, metal heat due to the obstacles is difficult to transfer heat into the boiler water, metal temperature sharply increases and when the temperature exceeds the allowed metal withstand temperature, metal intensity then decreases significantly, leading to overheating deformation of metals, and this is prone to accidents.

3. Shorten the service life of boilers: once the heating surface fouling, they are very difficult to remove, dig, cut and replace pipe repair measures will had to be taken if it is serious. Not only large costs, but also the heating surface is seriously damaged. All these hazards will greatly shorten the life of the boiler.
